GMI Press Release 2009

GMI launch the GasTrEx range

Renfrewshire based Gas Measurement Instruments Ltd (GMI) is pleased to announce the launch of their GasTrEx range. A new, cost effective range of flammable and toxic gas transmitters.

The new GasTrEx transmitters are fully certified to European and ATEX standards, and are suitable for all applications where a high quality 4-20mA transmitter is required.

When it came to the creative design and manufacture of the GasTrEx, GMI has included all the best features of transmitter products, from the current crop of gas detection suppliers.  This results in a unit which meets the most stringent of user and regulatory requirements, without having to pay a premium price.

Martin Rennie, GMI Sales and Marketing Director, says:

“Together with state of the art technology, the GasTrEx range of products is a culmination of clever product design, first pioneered in the GMI innovative range of portable products”.

For GasTrEx to be successful, maximum flexibility has to be the key feature, calling for transmitters to accept inputs from sensors for the widest range of detectable gases.  The GasTrEx transmitters can be interfaced with all of the following:- IR and catalytic flammable sensors, a wide range of electrochemical cell toxic sensors, semi-conductor, PID and IR CO2 sensors, plus many others.

GasTrEx also offers one-man, non-intrusive calibration plus analogue 4-20mA outputs that can be easily configured to interface to any supervisory monitoring system.

Price is always an important factor in any industry, and cost of ownership is often overlooked.  However, by looking through the users eyes, GMI has made ease of installation and ongoing maintenance a design essential, throughout the development of this product.

Founded in 1947 and with a 90 strong workforce at its Head Office in the UK, GMI is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high quality and innovative products, specifically designed for the oil and gas, chemical and shipping industries world-wide.  This is supported by the company's Service and Calibration division, one of the largest in the UK.
